Markham celebrates Canada Day

The city of Markham is hosting several Canada Day celebrations this year.

One of the first events will be the

early morning of July 1st with a Citizenship Ceremony for new Canadians in the Council Chambers at the Markham Civic Centre. It will be led by the Mayor and Council. This will be followed by a senior’s luncheon to be held beginning at 11:45 AM at Le Parc for up to 800 residents; pre-registration is necessary.

At 3:00 PM, the celebrations will move to the Milne Dam Conservation Area. There will be a family festival featuring children’s activities, entertainment from Alyssa Reid and food and drink for purchase. Before the entertainment kicks in the People’s Parade will start at 4:00 PM at McCowan Road and Highway 7 and make its way to Milne Dam. The parade will feature floats, dancers, marching bands and entertainers. It will then be followed by the raising of the Canadian flag and the singing of the national anthem.

The festival is also set to feature vendors, exhibits, a bicycle valet and a fireworks display at 10:00 PM. Shuttle buses will be in operation from CF Markham to the conservation area.

Markham printing companies often provide items such as flags and Banners for public events such as these.
