The annual Canada Day Celebration in Markham is going to be bigger than ever this year because of the upcoming 150th anniversary of Confederation.
The celebrations will start off with the People’s Parade at 4:00 pm. The parade is open to all and will travel along McCowan Road to Milne Dam Conservation Area. Once at the venue, there will be the raising of the Canadian flag and the singing of the national anthem.
Entertainment will be provided by artists like Splash ‘N Boots and Francesco Yates. There will be plenty of children’s activities, educational and historic exhibits, food for sale, and a performance by the winner of Star Search Markham. The evening will finish off with a fireworks display at sunset.
Other related activities taking place in Markham on Canada Day include a citizenship ceremony at Markham Civic Centre at 9:00 AM for 50 people and a free seniors’ luncheon at Le Parc at 11:45 with entertainment provided by BluSoul. Seniors interested in attending have to register in advance.
Organizers of the celebration may invest in products such as pop-up Banners to separate different areas.
