Canada 150 celebrations continue in Markham

The Markham – Milliken Children’s Festival is taking place next month as part of the continuing celebrations of Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.

The festival is aimed at children of all ages, and there will be plenty of activities for both younger guests and adults.

There will be musical entertainment throughout the day by artists such as Amanda Cruz and the Soul Sisters. Several superheroes, mascots, and Disney’s Moana will also be making appearances and posing for pictures. Clowns, police and safety demonstrations, and play zones will feature, with zones including a coloring zone and a chalk zone. A play-all-day pass is $10.

Guests will also be able to enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, milk bag weaving and henna art, among other activities. Fire trucks and police cars will also be there.

Adults will be served free coffee and can visit the interactive marketplace to pick up handmade art and craft items, and food for the family.

This event will likely be widely advertised in the Markham area, possibly by the distribution of printed materials such as Flyers and Posters.

The Markham – Milliken Children’s Festival will be held at the Markham Civic Centre on August 26 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free. For the most current information about the event, visit the City of Markham’s website.
