The Rouge: Varley Gala is taking place next month in Markham. It is a fundraiser for the Varley-McKay Art Foundation.
This year’s gala is celebrating two milestones: first, 2017 is the 100th anniversary of the death of artist Tom Thomson, who was an inspiration to the Group of Seven. This year is also the 20th anniversary of the Varley Art Gallery, which features great Canadian art including many works by the Group of Seven.
The evening will start off with a cocktail reception at which guests can learn more about the gallery from Foundation staff, followed by a sit-down, three-course meal.
Guests will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, as well as participate in a live auction after dinner. There will also be raffles for some great prizes.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo.
The Varley Art Gallery, in addition to showcasing Canadian artists, provides community art education through a number of programs.
A Markham printing company may be asked to provide printed Invitations to send out for this popular annual event.
The Rouge: Varley Gala will be held at the Crystal Fountain Event Venue in Markham on October 12 from 6:00 to 11:45 PM. Tickets are $150 and are on sale until October 2; a corporate table of 10 is available for $2,000. Call 905-977-7000 x3264 for more information.
