The exhibition titled "Dreamland: Textiles and the Canadian Landscape" will be showing at Museum London until April.
It features selections from the collection of Toronto’s Textile Museum and shows a uniquely Canadian view of textile art.
The curators of the exhibition are Natalia Nekrassova, Shauna McCabe, Roxane Shaughnessy and Sarah Quinton. The pieces being exhibited include hooked mats, pieced quilts, and personal art objects, all with the theme of the natural landscape of the country. Among the artists included in the exhibition are contemporary artists Douglas Coupland, Amalie Atkins, Barbara Todd, and Grant Heaps.
A related event taking place during the exhibition is a "Tour of Dreamland" with curator of Art, Cassandra Getty, this month, during which she will lead a walk-through and discuss the various pieces in the collection.
Exhibitions such as this are often of interest to those in London who work for graphic design and printing companies; the pieces can inspire them to use similar ideas in their next project.
"Dreamland: Textiles and the Canadian Landscape" is on display at Museum London until April 6. The "Tour of Dreamland" will take place on March 16, beginning at 1:00pm. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00pm – 5:00pm, and admission is by donation. To find out more about this exhibition or the museum itself, call 519-661-0333.
