Playhouse to reopen for the holiday season

A Southwestern Ontario theatre is set to hold its first shows in over six months, with a series of intimate shows taking place in November and December.

The Victoria Petrolia Playhouse will be hosting its “East Coast Kitchen Party Christmas” to audiences of fifty or less. The show is a scaled-down version of the theatre’s typical holiday spectacular, but will still feature comedy, dance and song.

The theatre leans towards time-tested and family-friendly fare, looking to appeal to a wide audience in Petrolia, as well as nearby cities and towns, including London. During its hiatus, the theatre has renovated and entirely rebuilt its stage, meaning that the “Kitchen Party” will be the first show on the new boards. Already announced for the show is actor Mark Payne.

The Petrolia Playhouse hopes that Kitchen Party will be a successful kick-off for their 2020-21 season. The season includes musical revues like “The Roaring 20s” and “The Power of Song 2: Divine Women”, as well as the plays “On Golden Pond” and “Wingfield Lost and Found”.

Local plays like this, typically advertised through tools like poster printing, can bring together local talent from a variety of different media and genres.

The Victoria Petrolia Playhouse’s “East Coast Kitchen Party Christmas” will have eight showings, beginning on November 2 and running into the Christmas season.
