Online game Warframe to hold annual convention in London

Digital Extremes, the company behind the popular Warframe video game, will be bringing its annual gathering focused on the game to London, Ontario this July.

The event, called TennoCon, is open to fans, professionals, and industry figures alike. Those interested in the technical side of the games may be interested in panels by developers and designers on their work, while dedicated fans could be drawn to the complementary "swag bag", the Warframe-themed escape rooms and cosplay contests.

Warframe is a free-to-play third-person-shooter game that allows players to co-operate with each other to complete missions. The game has grown steadily since its launch in 2013, and now boasts an active player base of nearly 50 million around the world. Similar conventions have proved successful in building fan bases for other online games, often using tools ranging from special in-game loot to exclusive Promotional Products and poster printing.

TennoCon will take place on July 6 at the London Convention Centre. The convention is named after the Tenno, the word for the mechanized soldiers of whom Warframe players take the role. Popular streamers who broadcast their play-throughs of the game online will be present as special guests. Developers have also teased that the convention could see major announcements about future developments in Warframe. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Canadian Mental Health Association of Middlesex.
