London is a well-known creative artsy and musical town, and the latest art mural to greet travelers coming off London trains proves it.
The mural, called ‘Moving Everything Everywhere All the Time 2012’ was revealed Tuesday, July 24, at the London Via Rail station. The goal was to display artwork that would spark conversation and thought, as well as capture the attention of the community of London and its artists.
Alongside the mural and its banner posting, travelers will find a QR code to scan with their smartphones. The code displays a website, informing visitors about the piece of art and the artist. The artwork captures the connections travelers make and the spirit of travel.
The artwork itself appeared in a printed book project, written by the London artists about their voyages and experiences in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, and London. Artist James Kirkpatrick, along Jamie Q, are the creators of the mural and collaborate under the name of Dusty Peas. The printed book project is entitled ‘A Journey Through Time and Shapes’.
The thought-provoking piece of printed work is an excellent example of how a book project, printed mural, or artistic poster printing can add cultural dimension to a community space and help promote local artists and talent. The artwork is proof that a visual or printed image can add character and ambiance to an otherwise transient space.
Jodi Simpson, director of marketing at Harrison Pensa, was responsible for the idea of integrating the moving piece of art at the London Via station.
