The day-long event will see music performances on main and acoustic stages, with performers including Sarina Haggarty and Texas King. There will also be a number of free seminars designed to provide education and networking opportunities for people at various stages and positions. Seminar titles include “Career Paths in the Music Industry”, “What is a City of Music and How Does Being One Benefit Our Community?” and “Vibrant Downtowns and the Role of Music.”
Promotional material makes a direct connection between the artistic and commercial sides of music:
“When you have music, the economy in your city can sing. Businesses directly related to music or benefitting from a thriving music scene can prosper, and residents of the region can rejoice in the social benefits it brings.”
There will also be a trade show element to the event, with tables representing music-related businesses such as producers, venues and studios. Businesses that are connected to the live music industry, such as hotels, restaurants and breweries, will also be represented. Networking can be just as important to music as other industries, with resume and business card printing as crucial as any sound check. The City of Music Expo is put on by the London Chamber of Commerce with the goal of being a recurring, sponsor-supported event.
The debut London City of Music Expo will take place on March 30 at RBC Place London.
