London virtual concert series to celebrate one-year anniversary

The Aeolian Hall’s Phoenix Sessions series will be marking a year of online streaming concerts this September with a Songwriter’s Circle event that will pay tribute to the live music experience.

The anniversary concert will feature a quartet of performances by singer-songwriters. The performers are pop-rock guitarist Sarah Smith, promoting her new album Unveiling; tattoo artist and country singer Aaron Allen; Tony Dekker, lead singer of long-running indie-folk group Great Lake Swimmers; and east-coast folk musician Marty Kolls.

All four artists have performed as part of the Aeolian’s virtual series over the past year, and they are looking to pay tribute to that era as artists hope for more opportunities for in-person concerts in the year ahead. Aeolian Hall itself is beginning to host concerts with live audiences again this month.

The Phoenix Sessions launched last fall as an attempt to provide local artists with performance opportunities while maintaining social distancing, and since then, a new pre-recorded concert from the Aeolian Hall has been released every week. The series uses a monthly subscription plan to encourage audiences to check out a variety of artists. Musicians across the world have adopted online streams as a way to keep in touch with fans, often using promotional tools like poster printing and social media to spread the word.

The Songwriter’s Circle event will stream on the evening of September 17 as part of Aeolian Hall’s Phoenix Sessions subscription package.
