London to host manufacturing conference

The London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) will be bringing a half-day conference called Manufacturing Matters to the Ontario city this October. The event aims to bring together leaders and experts from the manufacturing industry for education and growth.

The conference will feature an address from London Mayor Ed Holder, and a keynote address from Lou Cappa and Ben Brooks of Maple Leaf Foods. Attendees will then be able to select two rounds of breakout sessions, each dealing with specialized topics. These topics range from industry-specific concerns like cyber security and developments in the wood industry, to more general concerns like labour law, accommodating disability, and dealing with economic disruption.

Of course, conferences in any field are a hub for both formal and informal networking, and Manufacturing Matters will be no exception. The conference has scheduled a special breakfast and mid-morning break dedicated to networking. Attendees at conferences and conventions like this often use local Print shops to make sure they are stocked up on Business Cards and promotional Pens. The conference will also have a supplier fair with display booths up throughout the morning.

Manufacturing Matters will take place on the morning of October 3 at RBC London Place, also known as the London Convention Centre. Attendance is free for manufacturers who register in advance. The LEDC’s mission is to develop the local economy and support entrepreneurship in London, which it does through events and services in various industries.
