London to celebrate Childrens Festival in June

The London Children’s Festival, long a staple of the city’s summers, will be returning this Father’s Day weekend.

The festival features a number of larger-than-life attractions designed to delight families. This year’s event will see a new “Big School” attraction provided by the Ontario Truck Driving School, letting kids experience getting behind the wheel of a truck or construction equipment. Another new addition is the Giant Jenga Tower, with visitors able to play a super-sized version of the classic game of tumbling blocks. There will also be a new parachute area for various games with the large multi-coloured fabric, and a giant-sized checker board and pieces.

Returning to the Children’s Festival will be the “play village” full of classic midway games and rides, plus new additions, such as virtual reality games. Parents are able to ride free to accompany children 13 or under with an entry bracelet. As in past editions, there will be a number of food and truck stands, offering everything from hard ice cream to bacon butter tarts.

Outdoor festivals like this are often a great spot to sample an area’s independent food trucks and restaurants, with many vendors providing Business Cards or contact information in hopes of winning over repeat customers.

The 2022 edition of the London Children’s Festival will take place between June 17 and 19 at Victoria Park.
