The play, written by Neil Simon in 1965, stars a pair of roommates with opposite personalities and habits who clash. The story was a hit on Broadway and has been adapted into a film and multiple television series. The Players’ version will feature local talents Aaron Gorlick and David Pasquino as Oscar and Felix respectively, with actors like Dustin Didham and Ben Kennes in supporting roles. Dan Curtis will direct, with other community volunteers serving as the crew and keeping things running behind the scenes. The company explains the show’s enduring appeal:
“’The Odd Couple’ has garnered critical acclaim for its witty dialogue, memorable characters, and enduring appeal, earning several awards, including a Tony Award for best author.”
The Odd Couple will run for eight shows, with both evening and matinée performances. The comedy is part of the London Community Players’ 2024-25 season, which is also celebrating their 50th anniversary. The season will conclude in May and June with performances of the drama Harvey and the mystery Murdered to Death. Community theatrical performances like this often draw on local businesses for support, such as Print shops for program printing or secondhand stores for costumes and props.
The London Community Players’ production of The Odd Couple will be staged at the Palace Theatre Arts Common. Discount tickets are available for seniors and students.
