A study published last weekend in London, ON has confirmed what most farming industry analysts suspect: Canadians are willing to pay extra for locally-produced wines, meats, and produce. In particular, residents in Ontario and British Columbia are willing to pay the highest price tag, the London article reveals.
The study also concluded that residents in Alberta are more willing to shop for local beef, while people in Quebec are more apt to purchase produce from local canopies. In particular, studies show that Canadians are particularly conscientious about the origin, safety, and ecological footprint of their products, as well as the need to support jobs and the agricultural sector in general, thus paying attention to the labels.
The survey , conducted by BMO Bank of Montreal and included all provinces in Canada, suggested that Canadians seem to appreciate the quality of goods produced on local farms. It indicated the number one benefit of buying Canadian goods was to support local producers, with fruit and vegetables cited as the most important local food purchase. Safety, environmental sustainability, and freshness of food were also mentioned as benefits.
With the number of farmers’ markets around London and the rest of Ontario growing, the findings of the study may spark local growers to begin a promotional campaign in support of local markets.
Some printing services that may benefit local growers include banner printing in and around areas where farmers, markets are common, Signs in canopies within the farmers, markets displaying the product available, its origin and price, and even business card printing that proudly promotes local producers.Get a Free Quote for Signs
