Canada’s national music awards will take place in London, Ontario this March, and will bring a host of Juno-themed events to the city.
The awards, broadcast annually on CBC, aim to highlight the best of Canadian music. Familiar names like Jann Arden, Shawn Mendes and Three Days Grace will duke it out for Best Album, while musicians like grandson, Johnny Orlando and Meghan Patrick will look to make themselves known through the Breakout Artist category.
In addition to the main awards ceremony, events honouring the best and brightest in Canadian music will take place throughout the week. The Juno Songwriter’s Circle, a day prior, will honour the past with a tribute to songwriter Alan Doyle, best known as the frontman for Newfoundland band Great Big Sea.
More than 100 artists will perform across Thursday and Friday nights as part of JunoFest. The week will also include a night of live comedy performances and a ‘Junior Junos’ event aimed at kids.
The ceremony will take place on March 17 at Budweiser Gardens. In addition to the official Juno events taking place, local venues and businesses may hold their own events to attract visitors. Both official and unofficial events may be advertised through poster printing and banner printing, so London music-lovers should keep an eye out in the weeks to come.
Several Juno week events will be streamed on the CBC website and broadcast on radio.
