London organization to take charity event virtual

A London charitable organization will be holding its annual charitable breakfast virtually this year, with proceeds going to benefit local youth.

The group, Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU), will be marking the 15th year of its Breakfast for YOU event. Past events have included a collective meal and get-together, but this year’s breakfast will use a virtual format.

Ticket buyers can choose to receive a to-go breakfast from the YOU Made It Cafe or a gift box featuring preserves and wood products, with all items made by youth that the organization provides training and job experience to. Attendees can also decide to donate a breakfast to a youth in need, or to simply make breakfast at home while enjoying the live-streamed event.

Like the in-person event, the live stream will include speeches by YOU CEO Steve Cordes and youth who have been benefited from the program, as well as a silent auction that will run throughout the 90-minute event.

Charitable events such as this are often an opportunity for networking between local philanthropists, activists and businesspeople, with Business Cards and contact information changing hands, and the 2021 edition of Breakfast for YOU will preserve this with a virtual networking session to start the event.

This year’s edition of the Breakfast for YOU event will take place online on the morning of February 4. Proceeds will go to YOU’s efforts to help people at risk from age 16-30 with programs ranging from housing to skill training.
