London ON airport is a busy place, especially with the influx of traffic and seasonal charters operating during this year’s winter season. London airport has helped ease some of the congestion in time for December by opening a new lot designed especially for cars waiting for travelers, making picking up friends and family just a little less stressful. The concept may follow suit at other Canadian airports, but for now the new lot is being promoted through banner printing and billboards throughout the airport.

Dubbed the ‘cellphone waiting lot’, the designated area can accommodate up to 20 cars and is designed for drivers to wait until the person they are picking up summons them via cell phone. The person being picked up can summon their drive to the pre-designated spot to ensure a hassle-free experience.

While currently able to accommodate up 20 vehicles, the lot can be expanded by London airport management if needed. The lot is expected to fill up quickly during peak flight times, although cars are not expected to linger too long due to timely communication between travelers and drivers.

London International Airport that has now become Canada’s 20th busiest airport, serviced regularly by Air Canada Express, United Airlines, WestJet, and a number of charter companies in the winter months. The port of entry also provides services for cargo carriers.

Continual improvements in service and expansion of routes could mean lots of future business for printing companies who actively promote expanded use of the airport. The airport underwent a $6.5m terminal expansion in 2011.
