One of London’s biggest musical events is set to make a return this summer, with voting for the accompanying music awards having begun last week.
London Music Week typically hosts a series of concerts, activities for local musicians and the Forest City London Music Awards, now in its 20th year. There will be a series of London Live music performances, as well as the FCMLA MusicLicious program, which will see unique food items on the menu at local restaurants. High schoolers will collide in a Battle of the Bands, and there will also be a SoundCheck for Success professional development day aiming to help musicians at all ages and levels take the next step.
The crown jewel of the event is the Music Awards, which will be split across two nights – one for classical, jazz and world music, and one for pop, rock and other popular genres. There are awards in 23 categories, with nominees selected through a public nomination process that began on February 28 and will conclude on March 18. The public will then be able to vote on a shortlist of nominees between April 2 and May 6.
Award events like this give local artists and musicians a chance to take home trophies, Promotional Products and most importantly recognition for their efforts.
The 20th anniversary edition of London Music Week will take place between June 19 to 26 at venues such as Aeolian Hall and London Music Hall.
