London events look to encourage female leadership

This winter has seen the launch of a series of monthly events in London, Ontario called ‘All Women L. E. A. D.’, and the next seminar is just a couple of weeks away.

Looking to both grow leadership in women and highlight the leadership they already practice, the monthly seminars will lead up to a full-day event on International Women’s Day in March.

The events were created by Jennifer Slay and Melissa Maloney, who go by the nicknames “The Happiness Guru” and “The Happy Leader” respectively. Both women have extensive experience in social work and leadership counseling, and are looking to create a different, more approachable style of seminar. Events like this help to build skill and confidence as well as acting as a form of networking for professional women in different fields, with resume and business card printing at local printing services sometimes an important stop beforehand.

The next All Women L. E. A. D. event is subtitled ‘Empower yourself for New Year’s Success with Effective Goal Setting and Personal Wellness’, and takes place on December 18. The focus will be on creating and executing plans to help reach goals. There will also be an emphasis on wellness and stress management. Future installments will take place on January 8 and February 12, leading up to the International Women’s Day conference on March 11.

All events will take place at Goodwill Industries. Speakers are scheduled to include Erin Ackles, Michelle Baldwin and Kelly Tallon Franklin.
