London event to showcase maple syrup

London’s annual Maple Festival will be making a return this March, highlighting one of the most iconic Canadian flavours.

The event will showcase maple syrup in a variety of tasty Forms, as well as maple-themed crafts and products. Fanshawe Pioneer Village will be participating in the festival to provide educational information about the history of maple harvesting in the London area, including historic items and images and why maple syrup became so iconic in Canada, which produces 80% of the world’s supply and even features the maple leaf on its flag. There will be two floors of vendors including Polina’s Nostalgic Treats, Lynch Maple Farms, and Dan Besten Trout Farm, providing smoked maple trout.

Young visitors can also participate in family-friendly activities like face painting and crafts, and sample maple-flavoured variations on familiar treats like cotton candy, sausages, and fudge. The festival is hosted by London’s Covent Garden Market with the goal of highlighting local businesses. Artisans, chefs, and other creators at marketplaces such as these often utilise special goods or deals along with business card printing to help make a connection with new customers. Similar festivals are hosted across Ontario and Quebec, showcasing the versatility of maple syrup or other specific foods.

The 2024 Maple Fest will take place at Covent Garden Market in London on the morning of March 16.
