Kids theatre company launches new season

London’s Original Kids Theatre Company has begun its summer 2022 season, marking its return to full-time theatre with a full line-up of family-oriented plays.

The season kicked off with a number of plays, including a production of the Tony-winning musical Peer and the Starcatcher, based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, which ran throughout the month of May.

July will see the premiere of “Super School”, a brand-new musical by Sarah Mucek and Daniel Abrahamson set at a school for superheroes. Also premiering next month will be The Claw, a story set amongst toys who are excited and scared by the revival of an out-of-order crane game. Plays later in the season will include Girlhood: The Musical and Sally Sells Seashells (And You Can Too!), both premiering in August.

Original Kids will also be running its “Camp OK” program, giving kids a chance to put on their own shows, with programs tailored to various age groups. Kids will put on musicals based on popular cultural properties. Programs like this often use materials such as brochure printing and websites to help inform and attract potential attendees.

The Original Kids Theatre Company will present Super School from July 7 to 10 and The Claw from July 21 to 24, with all shows running at the Spriet Family Theatre. The Camp OK program will run from July 4 to August 26, with four sessions of two weeks each.
