The 18th edition of the Just for Laughs comedy tour will visit London, Ontario this October, bringing with it TV mainstay Rick Mercer and a host of up-and-coming Canadian comedians.
Mercer will be familiar to most Canadians from his appearances on CBC and other Canadian television. He first rose to prominence as a cast member on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, where he hosted memorable political “rants” as he walked around Toronto. In 2003, he launched The Rick Mercer Report, a weekly program that lampooned Canadian and international news, and lasted 15 years. Mercer has also appeared as a TV host and personality for various programs, as well as an actor.
The London event will also feature Ivan Decker, winner of the Juno Award for best comedy album, Debra DiGiovanni, TV personality and Gemini award winner, and Ali Hassan, the host of CBC Radio’s Laugh out Loud. The tour is a travelling version of the famous Just For Laughs festival. The Montreal event has long attracted North America’s best comedians, and has become a national brand through TV shows and sister events throughout Canada. Comedy events like these are often advertised through poster printing and flyer printing, letting local audiences know they can see screen stars in person.
Rick Mercer and the rest of the Just for Laughs crew will visit London on October 29 at Centennial Hall.
