The institute, which was founded in 1986 by neurologist Dr Henry Barnett, collaborates with six key pharmaceutical corporations as well as 1,200 hospitals worldwide.
The private facility focuses on researching certain types of illnesses, like Crohn’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
The move, which will take place in January, will enable growth for the medical corporation that is currently located at the campus of the Western University.
Robarts Clinical Trials Inc. is a spinoff of the Schulich School of Medicine at the University.
Robarts Clinical Trials’ CEO, Brian Feagan, said of the move:
“This will allow us to do better science, bigger science, science that makes a difference. We have been able to expand by growing our private sector capabilities.”
When new businesses move into communities like London, printing companies can help spread the word by producing Brochures and Flyers to distribute to the public.
Approximately 100 staff will be working in the new building once the renovations are complete. The number of employees will expand to 150 according to Lisa Harrison, vice president of operations.
Mayor Matt Brown said of the expansion:
“Robarts attracts the best researchers from around the world. Now they will work in our downtown and can live in our downtown.”
