Proceeds raised from the event will benefit the Toronto, ON based Foundation Fighting for Blindness, whose mission is to raise money for groundbreaking vision research to cure retinitis pigmentosa, which slowly causes gradual blindness. One of the founders of Comic Vision, Ann Morrison, commented:
“Comic Vision started when my son was diagnosed with an incurable eye disease and we were told he was going blind.
“We wanted to create an event that would raise awareness about what is happening to over one million Canadians across the country and fundraise for critical vision research.”
All money raised by the event will be donated to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, which in turn will be given to universities and hospitals across the country to fund research into blindness, macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa. One of the sponsors for this year's event is Globe and Mail and Accessible Media, a non-profit organization that provides printed literature for Print restricted, vision and hearing impaired readers.
Getting the word out about charity events is important to their success, and banner and poster printing companies in London, ON, are on hand to lend their expertise in promotional campaigns.
