Cinematic Broadway tour headed to London

Musical theatre and a classic rom-com will unite in London this May as Legally Blonde: The Musical will make a one-night-only appearance.

The musical is a stage adaptation of the beloved 2001 comedy film about a seemingly ditzy lawyer who proves herself, as well as the original novel by Amanda Brown. The stage production features original musical numbers and initially ran on Broadway in 2007 before being revived last year for an international tour. This edition, which will be visiting London, features Hannah Bonnett in the leading role of Elle Woods, with a supporting cast including Woody White, Ashley Morton, and Chris Carsten.

Marketing material emphasizes the show’s humour and music:

“This contemporary, sassy musical moves at a breakneck pace driven by memorable songs and explosive dances. Legally Blonde - The Musical warms the heart by proving that self-discovery can be way too much fun and hilarious to boot.”

The London production is the only Canadian stop on the Legally Blonde tour’s spring circuit of North America, coming immediately before the tour’s finale in Florida. Musical productions of beloved films have become a major fixture of theatre around the world in past decades, often using familiar Logo Design and music to bring new fans into the theatre.

Legally Blonde: The Musical will be performed at London’s Start.ca Performance Stage at Budweiser Gardens on May 7.
