Charities in the London area are to be helped by two special fundraising events which are taking place next month - the London Timeraiser and the YMCA Women of Excellence Awards gala.
The London Timeraiser is a unique event which is designed to provide local charities with volunteers rather than money. Those interested in volunteering talk to 20 non-profit organizations in order to match their skills. They then bid on artwork with how much time they can spare for the organization. In addition to the auction, there will be guest speakers from the various non-profit organizations.
The other event, the YMCA Women of Excellence Awards Gala, is held every two years. Women in eight categories will be recognized for their contributions to the community; the awards include Outstanding Achievement and Young Woman of Excellence. The gala consists of a cocktail reception, dinner and the awards presentations. There will also be a jewelry auction; for which 300 tickets will be sold at a cost of $100 each. All proceeds go to support the YMCA's Strong Kids Program.
No doubt organizers will be working with London printing companies to help advertise these events.
The fourth annual London Timeraiser will take place at The Arts Project on May 2 from 6:30 - 10:00pm. Tickets are $10 until April 16 and $20 if purchased after.
The Women of Excellence Awards Gala will take place at the London Convention Centre on May 7 beginning at 5:00pm. Tickets are $150 for adults or $80 for students. For more information, contact Christina Harley at 519-667-2356.
