Workman will be performing songs from the record, as well as from throughout his multi-decade career that has seen him be a frequent visitor to London and other Ontario cities. Lover/Fighter contained hits such as “We Will Still Need a Song” and “Anger as Beauty”, reached gold status, and even produced a #1 hit in France. Workman will be performing with a full band, producing a sound that is a mixture of chart pop, folk, and cabaret.
Promotional material for the concert highlights Workman’s international success:
“For a uniquely Canadian artist Hawksley has built loyal fan bases in the UK, France, Norway and Australia launching many successful tours, demystifying and delighting fans while drawing on an enviable catalogue of mischievous favourites, glammy stompers and heartfelt hymns to small town Canada.”
True to this reputation, London will be one of a small number of Ontario dates on Workman’s fall tour, which also includes a stop in London’s namesake in the UK and Oslo, Norway. Album anniversary tours have become a way for popular artists to return to old favourites, with shows often advertised through flyer printing and visits to local radio stations.
The 20th anniversary concert for Hawksley Workman’s Lover/Fighter album in London will take place at Aeolian Hall on the evening of November 3.
