The ArtsEverywhere Festival will be hosted in Guelph this May, with a focus on creative conversations, performances, workshops and other events.
Headlining the festival will be the long-running tradition of the Guelph Lecture, now in its 23rd year. Author and journalist Cory Doctorow will be giving a speech about recent developments in technology and how Canada can improve the state of online discourse. The evening will also feature a literary reading by award-winning writer Madhur Anand, and a performance by folk-pop singer Billianne.
Another major talk will be an instalment of the Big Ideas in Art + Culture Lecture Series, presented by Mohawk artist Shelley Niro, known for her photo series and films. Musical composer Christopher Willes will lead a two-day workshop on “Collaborating with Scores”. Saturday will feature readings and launches of new Books by Jo SiMalaya Alcampo and Peter Schuler.
Other scheduled events include “Bend your ear: a panel conversation on listening” and a performance by sound artist L CON in collaboration with Nina Vroemen and Karen Ng. Art festivals like this often use methods like brochure printing and lectures to help audiences better explore the ideas behind the art.
The 2026 Arts Everywhere Festival will take place from May 7 to 10 at the River Run Centre and other venues in Guelph. Admission for all events is free.
