Guelph Symphony plans New Years concert

The Guelph Symphony Orchestra will be kicking off 2026 European style with its “Dreams of Vienna” concert.

The show will be inspired by Austrian New Year’s celebrations, with arias, waltzes and other classical pieces. The performance will be conducted by GSO music director Adam Johnson and feature vocals from soprano Charlotte Siegel. The music will also be accompanied by dance provided by special guests from the Royal City School of Ballet and Jazz.

The concert will feature a full orchestra, overseen by concertmaster Jose Molina, with the orchestra’s featured players including pianist Khloe Wu, violinist Grace Lau and viola player Emad Zolfaghari. The orchestra’s New Years Day show has become a holiday tradition for the Guelph classical music community, as well as many music lovers. Promotional material claims that:

“It’s the perfect way to bid a fond farewell to an old year while ushering in a new one.”

“Dreams of Vienna” is part of the Guelph Symphony Orchestra’s 2025-26 season, which will continue with “Beneath Silver Skies” in March and conclude with a “Music of the Silver Screen” concert. Classical concerts like this one often use methods like poster printing and social media to help attract spectators.

The 2026 “Dreams of Vienna” concert will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, January 1 at River Run Centre in Guelph.
