The Oak Tree Project recently held their 10th charitable grant competition, with Guelph’s Wyndham House recognized as one of the region’s most valuable nonprofit organizations.
The project was created by the Mactaggart family with the goal of both supporting local charities and help them contribute to the community in the Guelph area, and has distributed over $400,000 to date. In total, 29 charities submitted themselves for the 2026 award, with 24 receiving supporting funds of some kind. The winners and shortlist were honoured at a Grand Finale gala at Cutten Fields.
Winners were selected based on a combination of expert reviews, interviews and public voting at the finale event. Topping the list was Wyndham House, which provides housing and holistic support to at-risk youth. Other finalists included the Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington, the Guelph Humane Society and the Skov Park Neighbourhood Group.
The Oak Tree Project will distribute $54,000 in funding among the selected organizations, weighted based on their finishing positions. This year saw the organization also open up its Oak Tree Learning Lab professional development series for nonprofits. Non-profit organizations and events often use banner printing and other signage to recognize major contributions like these.
The 2026 Oak Tree Project winners were announced on January 29 in Guelph, with funds to be implemented in the months ahead.
