The Guelph Dance Festival will be back for its 28th annual edition this June, looking to highlight different ways of movement and artistry.
The festival will be headlined by free performances at Exhibition Park on each day, headlined by Tara Butler performing “It Falls with the Rain (excerpts)” alongside the Guelph Youth Dance Company. Also performing on the outdoor stage will be Quebec’s Zeugma collective and Kwasi Obeng-Adjei with their piece “KO!”
Another highlight of the festival will be the performance of South Asian dance by Pratibha Arts on stage at the River Run Centre. In addition to these familiar venues, the Dance Festival will be making its debut in new spaces such as The Arboretum, with a performance by Vanguardia Dance Projects, and Orin Reid Park, which will host an outdoor workshop with Obeng-Adjei.
In addition to watching dances, audiences can also take part themselves as part of workshops run by guest dancers. The Guelph Youth Dance Studios will also host the work-in-progress dance piece Wings in Motion, giving some insight into the creative process. Arts festivals like this often use methods like flyer printing and posting to social media to help attract interested community members.
The 2026 edition of the Guelph Dance Festival will take place at various locations from June 5 to 7. Admission for most events will be on a pay-what-you-can basis.
