Guelph to host student leadership summit

The University of Guelph will be hosting its Lang Leadership Summit this month, bringing together students and experts to focus on ethical business practices.

The event will challenge business students to work in teams of four and find the best solutions to fictional business scenarios. The day will use the “Learn-Then-Do” model, beginning with workshops led by experts in sustainability and crisis ethics. Students must then take part in an “executive triage” challenge where they must demonstrate the values of sustainability, inclusion and ethical leadership.

The summit will be held in conjunction with The Globe & Mail, including a keynote speech from a representative of the newspaper. Students will also take part in a networking lunch with industry members and a concluding Awards Gala at Cutten Fields. Development events like this can provide crucial networking opportunities for students, with Business Cards and contact information often changing hands.

The Lang Students Association helps to organize the Summit, with an eye to serving members of the University of Guelph’s Lang School of Business and Economics. There will be separate divisions for 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 5th year students. Students are able to sign up as part of a pre-formed team or as individuals, with up to 120 people taking part in total.

The 2026 Lang Leadership Summit will take place in MacDonald Hall at the University of Guelph on Saturday, January 31.
