Conference for female farmers to be held in Guelph

An upcoming conference planned for Guelph will focus on women in farming and the role they play in managing agricultural operations.

The event

, which has been put together by the Canadian Association of Farm Advisors, will offer both resources and tools that can be used in the day to day management of a farm. According to a representative of the organization, Liz Robertson, this is a task that is often undertaken by women, who have to find a way to balance it with the rest of the daily lives.

One of the concepts that will be featured during the day-long schedule of workshops will be what is known as the ‘three circle model’. This was developed by a professor at the Harvard School of Business as a model for family-run operations. The circles are ownership, management and family. The conference will further elaborate on this and explain how they can all be tied together into a system that can easily be applied to agricultural operations. Handouts and other materials for conferences such as these can be designed and produced by a printer.

The event, titled “Focus on Farm Women- Bringing it all Together” is scheduled to take place on February 25th at Guelph’s Springfield Golf and Country Club. Further details, including the agenda and an opportunity to register, are available at the Cafanet website.
