Pick up some plants at the annual Brampton Horticultural Society sale

The Brampton Horticultural Society’s annual plant sale will take place at the Brampton Curling Club on May 19th from 9am - 2pm. Admission is free and the proceeds of the plant sales go towards supporting the Horticultural Society.

The plant sale is a major fund-raiser for the Brampton Horticultural Society. Plants, both annuals and perennials, are donated by members for sale. In addition, there is a garage sale with plant and garden related items, a silent auction, and lots of gardening advice is available from members of the Society. Brampton businesses will most likely be donating items to the silent auction to help the Society raise money. Local printing companies will also most likely be helping by providing signage, banner printing, and other necessary decorations.

The Brampton Horticultural Society was formed in 1895,  and actively promotes the appreciation of both private and public gardening. Not all members are experts, and most join to learn as much as they can about gardening. Membership of the society costs $19 a year, $14 for seniors and $2.50 for juniors. Family memberships are available for $26 and $20.

Spring is finally here and everyone is looking forward to the “May 24” weekend so they can finally start getting their gardens in order for the summer. While it’s tempting with the current warmer temperatures to start planting, there is still a chance of frost in the air. The timing of this plant sale couldn’t be better and plants bought here will be able to be replanted almost immediately.
