The MS Society Walk takes place in over 160 communities throughout the country and is expected to draw 60,000 participants and volunteers this year. Last year’s walk raised $14 million dollars to fund Multiple Sclerosis research and services to sufferers and their families.
Participants in the walk receive pledges for the distance walked. After the walk, participants can receive prizes based on how much they managed to raise for the organization; they can also donate their prize back to the MS Society. Prizes that can be received include clothing such as T-Shirts and gift cards from stores such as Chapters and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Many businesses will be competing in the walk as teams. Taking part as a team helps to increase the morale of your employees. The MS Society provides a toolkit for those planning to form a team including a handbook, information on how to motivate you team, team sign-up sheets and a poster. Printing the poster and sign-up sheets and placing them in a public area of your Brampton business will make sure the all employees are aware of the event.
