Carabram is set to take place in Brampton over three days in July. It is a cultural festival which celebrates the many nationalities and backgrounds of the people who make up the population of the city.
Various pavilions will be set up throughout the city, each of which will be dedicated to different countries. Countries and areas which will be highlighted include India, Ukraine, the Philippines, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Hawaii, Macedonia, and Canada.
The Canadian pavilion will be presented by the Canadian Autoworker Union and will be located at the CAW local 1285 Union Hall. Special features at the Canada pavilion include live musical entertainment and foods such as Canadian back bacon on a bun and poutine. Each pavilion will feature cultural performances, dance troupes, musical performances, and food unique to the area.
Those who wish to attend Carabram are required to purchase a passport which gives them access to all the different attractions.
Each pavilion will have its own special stamp and the passport can be saved as a souvenir of the event. The festival should be an excellent opportunity for citizens of Brampton to learn about their neighbours and to celebrate their cultures.
The organizers of Carabram have likely been working with local printing companies to prepare. This will probably involve ordering such items as Posters, Signs, and Banners to decorate the various venues.
Carabram will take place in Brampton from July 12-14. Passports are $10 until July 12 and $12 after. For more information, call 416-452-4917.
