Creatives based in Brampton will soon have an opportunity to take part in a growing artistic movement.
This month, the first Art Battle will take place at Brampton’s Spot One. During the competition, area artists will have 20 minutes to complete a piece using acrylic medium and non-mechanical tools they choose.
The audience will have an opportunity to walk amongst the participants as they are working. At the end of the 20 minutes, the audience will vote and the top three will be declared the winners. All of the artwork will be auctioned off at the end of the event, with the creator receiving 50 per cent of the sale.
There are four Art Battles scheduled to take place throughout the spring, and the winners will be given an opportunity to take part in the National Art Battle. The system has been set up by Art Battle Canada, which invites municipalities to sign up and host competitions of their own.
The cost to attend the event, which takes place on March 12th, is $20 at the door, with students and senior tickets selling for $15. Early bird tickets can be purchased for $15.
An evening such as this provides the public with a chance to watch artists as they go through the creative process, and then to purchase a work of art for their very own. A printing company can help to make the event run smoothly by printing everything from tickets to promotional items, voting record sheets and much more.
