Brampton walk set to help charities in the city

The 5K Run, Walk and Roll event is returning to Brampton this weekend. Sponsorship money and donations will go to help the Region of Peel's United Way campaign, and the goal this year is to raise at least $45,000.

Those looking to take part in the event can run, walk or use their wheelchairs. A special 1K Kid's Course for those aged 12 and under is also open on the day.

Several awards will be handed out, including fastest runner and overall highest individual fundraiser. Participants pay a fee to participate and can also collect pledges from their friends, family members, and co-workers.

In addition, there will be family-friendly entertainment in the Party Zone, food and drink, vendors, giveaways, and a costume contest. Vendors are expected to provide such services as massages and physiotherapy. In addition, the Athlete's Corner will give people the chance to meet and greet famous Canadian and world athletes.

Sponsorships are also available from $500 upwards. Advertisements in the event program are also available. Brampton printing companies may become involved to help design and Print this program that will be handed out to everyone who takes part.

The 5K Run, Walk and Roll will begin at Chinguacousy Park on Saturday, starting at 8:30am. Entry fees are $50 per person and $170 for a team of four; fees for the 1K Kid's Course can be covered by making donations to the United Way. For more information, call 905-791-7800.
