Brampton to recognize the value of good neighbors

Brampton has a reputation as one of Southern Ontario’s friendliest places to live – something which will be recognized next week when an awards ceremony takes place to acknowledge the city’s Best Neighbor.

The Brampton Guardian and the Safe Cities Association have teamed up to recognize just how important the city’s people are to the community. They have worked with local businesses to put together a collection of prizes, including dinner for four at a luxury restaurant and gift certificates for local stores. Many of the vouchers have been produced by nearby printing companies.

The entire prize package is worth more than $600, and is a very special way for the city to say thank you to those who make the neighborhood such a wonderful place.

The contest runs until 3:00pm on June 6th, and names can be submitted by visiting the Brampton Safe Cities website, by dropping off the entry form in person, or delivering it via fax or mail.

The entry should include a written piece with up to 200 words describing why the nominee deserves to win the award. The person must be a current resident of Brampton, and people cannot nominate themselves or their family members.

A panel of community judges will judge the contest, and the recipient will be given the title of Brampton’s Best Neighbor. All those who are nominated will also be designated as ‘Good Neighbors’ by the judging panel. The awards are thought to encourage people to help each other out when necessary.
