Brampton program to teach basic fishing techniques

This summer, Brampton’s Heart Lake Conservation Area will be welcoming members of the public for an opportunity to learn how to fish, and this instruction is being offered free of charge.

The sessions, which are scheduled for two hours each, will share secrets that can give people a fishing experience that is as safe as it is fun. All ages are welcome, and all of the equipment needed will be supplied.

Each of the sessions that have been planned will have room for up to 40 people, and this will be split between walk-ins and those who chose to pre-book their spot. A trained coordinator will guide the group, and along with learning how to hopefully catch a big one, the participants will learn about the fish and other animals and plants that call local waterways home.

While there is no cost to participate in the fishing program, there may be an admission fee charged to enter the conservation area. The kids who take part in a program like this often appreciate receiving a certificate or embroidered patch they can sew on their fishing vest or jacket, and corporate gifts like these can be readily prepared by area print shops.

The Learn to Fish initiative is being offered to the public through the support of the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. The activity will be offered on a variety of dates throughout the summer at 10818 Heart Lake Road.
