The city of Brampton is presenting two fund raising events early in February that will help people to keep their New Year promises of helping others.
The 15th annual Curl for Cancer (CfC) event will take place at Chinguacousy Park on February 9 from 2:00pm - 10:00pm. Curl for Cancer was created in 1998 in honor of Suzy Cross and takes place in several cities across Canada. The fun involves teams of four taking to the ice to compete against one another. The CfC website states its purpose is to raise money for the fight against cancer while promoting the sport of curling.
Also on February 9, the Have a Heart for Cystic Fibrosis dinner dance will take place at the Lofter Lake Recreation Centre. The evening will feature cocktails, door prizes, a silent auction, dinner, a DJ, and dancing. The meal takes place from 6:00pm - 11:55pm.
Both events have something to offer to a wide variety of people and should raise funds for very worthwhile charities. No doubt organizers will be working with Brampton printing companies to advertise the fundraising occasions to the community at large.
Fees to take part in this curling bonspiel are $200 per team. Proceeds go to support the Canadian Cancer Society. For more information, call 905-608-8411. Tickets for the Have a Heart for Cystic Fibrosis dinner dance are $60 per person and proceeds benefit Cystic Fibrosis Canada. For more information on this event, call 905-450-1882.
