Brampton festival to promote Indian theatre

The Great Indian Theatre Festival will take place in Brampton this October, featuring a sample of live plays from the subcontinent.

The festival will consist of four Hindi comedy-dramas from the theatre production companies Paper Boats, Swar Sadhana Productions and Kahaani Kollective. The line-up of plays includes Geetanjali, The Waiting Room, and Kisiki Topi Kisike Sar, with all plays being presented on a single ticket. Each play is fully staged with sets and professional actors.

The Great Indian Theatre Festival is a touring event that visits cities across the world with a changing selection of plays, with previous stops in Ottawa and Toronto. The Brampton production is presented by local organizations Gujarati Seniors Samaj of Mississauga and Swar Sadhana Music Lovers Club. Past editions have presented plays in multiple languages.

Local theatre like this often uses eye-catching poster printing to attract viewers and convey the main points of the plays. Promotional material for the festival identifies it as a chance to experience cultural diversity:

“This is a unique opportunity to experience four different Hindi comedy dramas in one unforgettable theatrical evening. Join us and be part of this vibrant cultural celebration that brings the South Asian community together through laughter storytelling and stage magic.”

The 2025 edition of the Great Indian Theatre Festival will take place in Brampton on September 6 at The Rose Theatre.
