Canada’s Pollinator Week celebrates the role the pollinating insects, birds and other creatures play in both the natural world and the human food chain, and as a part of a larger national initiative, Brampton residents have been offered a special activity.
The public will have an opportunity to be part of Fred Kline Park’s Butterflies and Friends Walk, and it will welcome all ages and abilities. It has been organized by Credit Valley Conservation, and it will take advantage of the pleasant weather of a late June evening.
The walk will visit a variety of pollinators in their own home turf, and Melissa Creasey will share her knowledge with the group. She will discuss bees, butterflies and other species that are pollinating partners, and the participants will learn how they can take some simple steps to help keep them safe. A variety of local initiatives are on the agenda for review, and binoculars will be provided.
To help make it easier for the attendees to keep on learning about the natural world, biodiversity identification sheets prepared by the University of Guelph Arboretum will be distributed for as long as supplies last. Stationery printers will be able to craft a variety of printed materials for an event.
This opportunity for the public to meet some local pollinators up close and personal will be on offer on June 22nd. The meet up point will be located at 9445 McLaughlin Road. Tickets are free.
