Awards honor those who help their community

Microskills is holding its 17th annual awards celebration this May in Brampton.

The event is set to honor women entrepreneurs, youth leaders, women leaders, and all who exemplify corporate spirit. Microskills is an organization that helps immigrant and low-income women get settled and to find employment; it also provides services to all of those seeking work, and offers services to help people become self-employed.

In addition to having a sit-down dinner and watching the awards presentation, attendees can bid on a silent auction or take part in a prize raffle. Among the awards to be handed out during the evening are the Corporate Spirit Award and the Margot Franssen Leadership Award.

Organizers are still looking for donations for the auction and the raffle. Local companies can also purchase advertisements in the program book; prices range from $400 for a quarter page to $1,500 for the inside front or back cover.

Brampton brochure printers are often asked to help design and Print program Booklets for events such as this. Costs for these are inexpensive, and they give attendees a souvenir to take home.

The Microskills Awards Celebration is taking place at Pearson Convention Centre on May 29th from 5:30pm - 10:00pm. Tickets are $125 each, and tables of 10 are available. To learn more about the event or about Microskills, contact Bernadette Salmon at 416-247-7181 x2303.
