Air Canada moving operations to Brampton

Air Canada is building a new operations facility in Brampton. The facility will be 65,000 square feet and two storeys high and it is expected to be completed by 2014. The build is being managed by the Orland Corporation. Air Canada has invested millions of dollar in the building of this new office but will not give an exact monetary figure.

Five hundred employees will be working at the new building. Operations which will be handled from this building will include scheduling crews, maintaining flight schedules and managing cargo; the jobs which will be conducted at this facility are designated as 'knowledge-based'. Between 100 - 120 people are expected to transfer to the new building from all over Canada to join current employees from the area. Currently, operations in Ontario are located at Pearson Airport. Studies showed that most current Air Canada employees wanted the new facility to be built west of the airport since many of them live close by.

According to Brampton mayor Susan Fennell, this deal will make Air Canada one of the top ten employers in Brampton. The reason that Brampton was chosen as the final location of the building was because of the cooperation the corporation received from the city government.

The move by Air Canada to this building will also create work for Brampton Stationery printers. The entire line of company Stationery including memos, purchase orders, Business Cards and Envelopes for Air Canada will have to be replaced with the new address and contact details.
