Hydroponics provides a way to grow vegetables year round, and taking part in an upcoming Vancouver workshop may make it easier for newbies to get started.
Kensington Community Centre has set aside time in December to offer an introduction to the art and science of growing plants using water instead of soil as the growth medium. It will show how foods such as herbs, greens and more can all be successfully cultivated indoors, and the session will be two hours long.
During the class, the attendees will be walked through an assortment of hydroponic setups, and they will find out which ones are best for growing a particular crop. The use of LEDs and light cycles will be reviewed, and tips for choosing the right nutrients will be on the agenda as well. Dwarf tomatoes and peppers are two of the plants on the syllabus, and everyone will be able to ask questions.
More people are becoming interested in growing some of their own food, and a class can teach them how to get started. A poster printing company can help to make sure as many people as possible know about an upcoming learning opportunity available to them.
Hydroponics 101 will be helping those who call Vancouver home to go a bit greener on December 8th. The workshop will begin at 6:30 pm.
