Vancouver learns sausage-making secrets

Italy is well known for its wide variety of traditional sausage recipes, and a Vancouver class will bring these to a new crop of Canadian makers.

The Italian Cultural Centre has partnered with Luigi Bastone to offer an introduction to sausage making. He will walk the attendees through the process, step-by-step, and when they head for home, the learners will know how to do so from scratch.

The hands-on activity will be preparing both mild and spicy versions of sausage, and there will also be an opportunity to sample seasoned pork loin and Luigi’s salami as well. Everyone can take their sausages home with the stone share or enjoy all their own, and they are reminded to bring a container to carry theirs home. They may also bring along a bottle of wine so they can sip on a glass while they work, if they wish.

Cookery and other culinary workshops can make cooking a lot more fun, and they also make it easy to pick up new skills. A brochure printing company can create cards printed with the recipe taught during a class to hand out, and these may be laminated so they can easily be wiped clean in case of kitchen spills.

This inside scoop on preparing authentic Italian sausage will be running from 6:00 pm until 9:30 pm on June 22nd. It will be held at 3075 Slocan Street .
