What's Happening in Vancouver, BC…

Vancouver workshop to introduce electronic prototyping

Residents of Vancouver who have always wanted to get some experience working with electronics, but did not think they had the necessary skills to perform the tasks required, will want to reserve their seat in a workshop welcoming novices later this year.

MakerLabs will be offering a beginner-friendly class that will introduce attendees to the world of electronic prototyping, and it will include both theory and hands-on practice. The participants will engage in a deep dive exploration of soldering, and the host notes that social distancing protocols and other measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be strictly followed.

The students will learn about the process of rapid prototyping from beginning to end. Electronic theory, schematic diagrams, breadboard-based wiring and a review of hardware components will all be included in the class, and participants can also count on discovering how woodworking and other forms of fabrication can be combined with the circuitry components to create a variety of projects.

The workshop is scheduled to run for three hours, and is aimed at those aged 13 and older. Local printing services are often employed to produce promotional material for workshops like this to encourage attendance.

MakerLabs, which can be found at 780 Cordova Street, will be conducting the ‘Soldering and Electronics 101’ session on December 1st. The registration fee starts at $84.12.
