There are many ways to keep plants well-watered during a dry spell, and a Vancouver workshop will introduce participants to drip irrigation systems.
The event, which is being offered by the Village Vancouver Westside Neighbourhood Food Network, will explore the benefits and drawbacks of using this method to irrigate plants. The participants will find out about the various designs for this sort of system, and it will be aimed at home gardeners.
The registrants will learn about the different components of a drip irrigation system, and there will be a discussion of which system to use for a garden bed, as well as for container planting. Dr. Yael Stav will provide the instruction, and at the end of the session, everyone will go home with a packet of free seeds. The class can be useful to people of any age, and pre-registration is necessary to participate.
Due to COVID-19, the organizers have asked everyone to practice social distancing and other safety measures. Screening questionnaire Forms and waivers for this sort of in-person activity can be ordered ahead of time from local Stationery printers.
The Drip Irrigation for a Waterwise Garden workshop will begin at 6:45 pm on April 24th. The venue for the activity can be found at 4397 2nd Avenue West in Vancouver.
