More people are discovering the joys of urban horticulture, and a Vancouver garden space has put out a call seeking hands for a day of TLC for its beds.
Colour Me Local Dye Garden grows plants that have been used to create both traditional and modern dyes, and throughout the growing season, it hosts work party days to both educate the public and keep it in top shape. It has scheduled its fall wrap up day, and everyone is asked to consider lending a hand with the project.
The participants in the activity will be preparing the beds for winter, and this may include providing protection to any tender plants or ones that require some extra TLC to survive in the local climate zone. They will also remove litter, and as they work, they will have a chance to learn about the various species and how they are used.
The planner of the free afternoon explained that there may be live entertainment provided by some of the volunteers, and this may be paired with an opportunity to see dyers in action. Dye recipe cards, certificates of appreciation for volunteers and signage are just some of the materials that may be prepared for an event by area Stationery printers.
Colour Me Local Dye Garden, which is located at 3958 Renfrew Street in Vancouver, will be putting its plants to bed for the winter on October 1st. Everyone is encouraged to lend a hand. Get a Free Quote for Stationery
